Eurypterid Earrings
Rock Crystal, Amethyst, Brass, Sterling Silver
Inspired by the biological armor of eurypterids (also called sea scorpions), a prehistoric group of aquatic creatures.
Designed to be light yet durable, these earrings were fully fabricated from brass sheet, wire, and tube, with sterling silver used for the post and back. Brass sheet was die-formed using a hydraulic press, then joined with ball rivets (torch-balled wire), creating joints that mimic the articulated armor of eurypterids. One variation uses rivets with balled ends on both sides, the other features tube-set rock crystal and amethyst on the front end of the rivets.
